Context:A new pair of running shoes finds itself in a corridor next to a pair of red
high-heal shoes. These shoes are really mean and, the more the running
shoes are used, the meaner the insults. One day, it is the high-heals turn
to come back dirty and used. The arrival of a new par brings the old ones
directly in the garbage…

Context:The film was made entirely by children ages 10-11 under the supervision of instructor
Mindy Faber. They were made in a two-week digital moviemaking workshop by beginning
students.

| BEST FILM LIVE ACTION 13 – 16: Hell Hath
no Fury (UK) |

Context: Young
people aged 12 – 19 from 2 rural youth theatres in South
West Durham, worked with professional filmmakers from Jack Drum
Arts on this award winning production, which was shot entirely
on location in the Durham Dales. Members of the 2 groups had the
opportunity to take part in all aspects of the production including
the initial research, script writing, filming and editing the film
alongside acting roles cast by the appointed assistant director
Laura Emerson.

| BEST FILM 1 MINUTE 6 – 12:
A World in Crisis : Waiting for Meltdown (Canada) |

Context:Students met with the two supervising teachers twice or three times a week over
the lunch hour to work on videos. They basically run their own crews, and each
team member had a specific role. We will often supervise the editing process,
offering assistance if it is needed. Once the film has been shot and edited,
we show students how to create a soundtrack. Our students use two programs
to create music—Garage Band, and Movie Maestro.

Cultural Centre, sponsored by the San Sebastián council’s culture
department.
