vol 1. no5. April 6 2009

Dear Kids For Kids Participants,

So many things has happen in 2008 worldwide, that we decide to send you an update of what have been going on in the Kids For Kids family and what is happening now.

In 2008, 3 affiliated events took place, each of them giving their awards and allowing young filmmakers from a specific area to meet through their films.  We would like to remind you of the winners for those events. The big winner from each one will be part of the global competition.

Regarding this Global Kids For Kidsit will be taking place after many difficulties in a new format that, we believe, will be an interesting way for all the young filmmakers in competition to participate. Last week, the pre-selection have been announced (visit our website for the details at www.kidsforkidsfestival.org).  This week, we are happy to let you know which of these films receive an award from the Professional Jury.

Very shortly, we will be able to announce all the winners for 2008 and have the Best Of Kids For Kids DVD compilation ready with all 49 films in competition. It will then be time to look at the future and start a new year with you.

Best wishes,

The Kids For Kids’ team

KIDS FOR KIDS FESTIVAL 2008 a new format for special times

For the past nine months, we have been trying very hard find a partner to host the 2008 edition of the Kids for Kids Festival.  Many were interested however, in these times of crisis, none of those projects were successful in their application.

In light of the situation, and since time flew by us more quickly than we would have wanted, we had to take the decision not to have the festival in its original form for 2008. Instead, we already are focussing on the future of Kids For Kids. Meanwhile, here is the plan for the completion of the Kids For Kids Festival 2008:

For this year, a jury of professional from Montreal will select the winning films.

Due to those extraordinary circumstances, the DVD compilation (Best of KFKF 2008) will include ALL the selected films and will be send to ALL the filmmakers of these films.

The DVD will be sent to them, with the list of prizes to be awarded by the youth jury. Those whishing to participate in this jury will send us their choices by email.  We will count the votes and announced the winners on our Newsletter and Website

We really hope that the 2009 edition will be possible and are still looking for a long-term partnership and hope to be able to announce it very soon.
