vol 1. no7. May27th, 2009

Dear Friends and Colleague,

The 2008 edition of the Global Kids For Kids festival is now officially over.

They say that good things can come out of everything; this finale is certainly a proof of that.  Even though there was no official award ceremony with both juries this year, we believe that the voting system was a beautiful way to get everyone to participate.

We would like to thank all those who have taken the time to screen the films and send us their votes:

  • James Strubbe, Belgium
  • Tuur Stuyck,  Belgium
  • Joseph Proccopio, Canada
  • Thibault Comte, France
  • Malgorzata Popinska, Poland
  • Michal Boreczek, Poland
  • Allyssa Kaiser, USA
  • Sky Rodrigues, USA
  • Zoe Allen-Wickler, USA

We would also like to send a special thank you note to those of you who took the time to organize “mini-jury” sessions.  We were very happy to have the results of your discussions and voting.  The coordinators of these events were:

  • Lucia Cano, Talle de cine “el Mate”, Argentina
  • Susan & Katherine Procopio, Canada
  • Joni Malja, Mikael Kilhströn & Niko Ruoho, Finland
  • Klaus Weller, Germany
  • Galia Lev Gelfand, Israel
  • Pnina Medan, Israel
  • Liset Cotera, La Matatena, Mexico
  • Carmen Santos, Clubexplor, Singapore
  • Chung-ho Lin, Public television Services, Taiwan
  • Julie Ward, Jack Drum Arts, UK

We certainly hope that it was a fruitful experience to screen other filmmakers’ production.

For us, receiving the votes of so many young filmmakers was truly exciting and we are very proud of the final result.
