International film festival presenting films
made by children for children
April 2008
FESTIVAL GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS
-
Kids For Kids Festival is an independent festival
of films made by and for children and a meeting place for young filmmakers,
media experts and the interested public. This international film
festival is managed by CIFEJ.
-
Selection: A Selection committee will choose the
films to be shown in the Official Competition of the festival. Only
films that have been cleared of rights (including musical
rights) will be accepted. The films have to be entirely
made by children from 6 to 12 years old or 13
to 16 years old and would have to have been produced
after June 2007. The wide range of forms
and the different possibilities for an aesthetic realization
of subjects are of great importance for the Festival. Films will
be accepted in 3 categories: Animation, Live action (Arts and
Documentary), and One-minute films. The animation and live action
films should not be longer than 10 minutes. If your film is selected
for the Official Competition, you will be notified in writing
by the CIFEJ managing team.
-
Awards:
the festival management will appoint an international professional jury and an
international children jury. Some young filmmakers might be invited to take part
in the international children’s jury, and will be notified in writing.
In order to be able to participate in the jury, the youngsters will have to be able
to express themselves in English, which is the language of the debates. These
juries will award the following prizes: Best film in each age group,
in each category, and one GrandPrize for outstanding achievement in
a film made by children from each age group. Awards and Prizes will be announced
at the conclusion of the festival.
-
Deadline for submission:
All entry forms must be registered on-line at www.kidsforkidsfestival.org before
June 15th, 2008. You must send with each entry a DVD of good quality (one film
per DVD), the fully completed entry form and a short description of the film,
its creators, and the context in which the film was made. The English dialogue
list is also required. Whenever possible, please send a photo from the film and
one of the filmmaker(s) for the festival catalogue and the press. If you do not
have access to Internet, please fax a written request to the festival’s
office (fax +1 514 284-0168) to receive an entry form.
-

Once your film has been registered on-line (or by fax), you will automatically
receive a reference number and a confirmation letter giving you the postal address
where you should send the material (DVD, synopsis, etc). This material should
reach its destination by June 15, 2008, at the latest. Shipping expenses for
the film are to be born by the submitter. All films should be labeled: “For
temporary use only. For festival and cultural purposes only. No commercial value”.
Films sent by courier must be accompanied by a proforma invoice stating a total
value of no more than $15 US to avoid you having to pay duty.
-
Insurance:
The films will be insured by CIFEJ while at the festival. The insurance runs
from the time when the films are first delivered to Kids For Kids Festival and
last until the end of the festival.
-
Film return:
DVDs used for pre-selection will not be returned.
-
Video Archive of KFKF: All films submitted for the festival will
remain with Kids For Kids Festival for individual/scientific purposes.
